Recovery Ride Set For Sept. 12
WARSAW — September is National Recovery Month, a nationwide effort to boost awareness of mental health and substance abuse while applauding those who have found their path to recovery. The Bowen Center observes Recovery Month each year and, in 2015, will participate in events designed to draw attention to this annual observance.
“The Bowen Center’s commitment to providing addictions services is in keeping with our overall mission of putting behavioral health as our top priority,” said Vicki Ley, MA, LMHC, LCAC, MAC, The Bowen Center’s addictions services director. “For people struggling with addictions, the dream of recovery can sometimes seem out of reach. Our goal is to give them the tools to not only realize that dream, but also to find a way to stay on the right path indefinitely.”
According to Ley, The Bowen Center will take part in an event in DeKalb county that will help underscore the importance of recovery. The Ride For Recovery, a motorcycle ride scheduled in Auburn, is organized by the Association of Recovering Motorcyclists. The ride begins at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Serenity House, Auburn, and will finish at Foster Park, Fort Wayne. Registration begins at 10 a.m.
Supporting this event, according to Ley, is in keeping with The Bowen Center’s companywide culture dedicated to the treatment of all mental health-related issues. “Our addictions services staff are dedicated to helping those who struggle with these issues in order to improve their quality of life,” she said.
Literature on mental health issues is available at any of the The Bowen Center’s 11 clinical locations in 10 Northern Indiana counties, including Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, Noble, Steuben, Wabash and Whitley, as well as the center’s website.
Founded in 1961, the Otis R. Bowen Center for Human Services Inc., is a private not-for-profit, comprehensive community mental health center licensed by the State of Indiana Division of Mental Health.
