WHITLEY COUNTY — A 57-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Whitley County. The accident was at 5:26 a.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 2, at US 30 and CR 800E.

Whitley County Sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Cook reports Amalia S. Monterroso, 57, Fort Wayne, was westbound on US 30, in a 2003 Chevrolet S-10, when she disregarded the red traffic signal and proceeded into the intersection. Her truck struck a 2003 Ford F250, driven by Douglas Mossberger, 44, Avilla. Mossberger was southbound on CR 800E.

Mossberger complained of lower back pain and was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Parkview Whitley EMS, Union Township Fire Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
