Volleyball Putting Things Together
Triton volleyball may be starting to peek around the corner. After a tough start to the season, Triton has won three matches in five days, the latest victory a 3-0 win at home Saturday against West Central.
Triton posted a 25-16, 25-15, 25-12 scoreline to give Triton its third Hoosier North Athletic Conference win of the week.
Nicole Sechrist had a diverse day for the Lady Trojans, recording eight aces, five kills and three digs. Hannah Wanemacher has 13 assists, Quinn Downing dug 14 attempts and Jaela Meister had nine kills, six digs and two aces.
Triton, which were 1-3 after the first two weeks of the season, have improved to 4-4 overall with North Judson ready to invade the Trojan Trench Tuesday.
West Central’s JV team rallied from a 25-20 loss in game one to rally past Triton 25-18, 15-12.
Bruins Shut Out Trojans
Bethany Christian were very impressive on the tennis courts Saturday, running a complete program sweep of host Triton, 5-0 in the varsity and 2-0 in the JV matches.
Byeong Min Ling won the No. 1 singles match against Gavin Eads one and love, Ethan Lapp got past Mace Eads four and one at No. 2 singles, and Jaceb Gonselves took care of Aaron Stichter one and one.
At No. 1 doubles, Simon Hurst and Brandon Nguyen topped Dalton Bailey and Keygan Moiser two and love and Jackson King and Lane Miller shut down Brenden Damron and Chase Butler two and love at No. 2 doubles.
Bethany improves to 7-4 overall while Triton falls to 3-7.
The Trojans will host Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday afternoon.
Triton Off The Pace At Caston
Triton’s boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Caston Invitational Saturday morning. The girls scored 256 points to place 10th and the boys had 310 points to land in 13th place.
Individual results for Triton were not provided.
Winning the boys team title was Winamac with 44 points, led by individual champion Kyle Collins, who ran a 16:25. Winning the girls team title was Hanover Central with 50 points. Kyle’s sister, Claire Collins, won the individual title for the girls with a time of 20:03.
Triton will host Culver Academy Tuesday afternoon.
