Lady Tigers Continue Hot Streak
Warsaw girls soccer posted another impressive win against a quality opponent. Facing Class 1-A No. 6 Argos on the road Saturday, Warsaw posted a 3-1 victory.
Benefitting from an own goal in the 11th minute, Warsaw would build its lead six minutes later when Anna Reimink took a pass from Elizabeth Van Wormer and tallied the Tiger’s second goal. Anna Grill made it 3-0 when she finished a pass from Alex Koontz.
Argos pulled one goal back in the second half when Courtney Dunlap netted a free kick in the 44th minute.
Warsaw outshot Argos 8-6, and Tiger keeper Chloe Snow won her seventh contest of the season by making six saves.
The battled of undefeated teams had Warsaw improve to 7-0 while Argos fell to 8-1.
The Warsaw JV won its second contest of the season with a 4-1 result at Argos. Katiana Rodriguez was the hot foot for Warsaw, notching three goals while Kennedy Patton netted the fourth goal. Jubliee Stichter and Sarah Meade had assists for Warsaw.
Warsaw will have a pair of key Northern Lakes Conference on the slate next week, at home Tuesday against Elkhart Memorial and at home Thursday against Concord.
Boys Cross Takes The Crown
Warsaw added an impressive win at the Marion Boys Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning, winning the team title with 67 points.
Owen Glogovsky led the Tigers on the path, running a very fine time of 15:46 to take third overall. Zeb Hernandez continued his rise, taking eighth at 16:37 and Lucas Howett gave the Tigers a third in the top 10 with a 16:41, good enough for 10th overall.
Francisco Ramirez (13, 16:50) and Nate Gottschalk (33, 17:24) rounded out the Warsaw scorers.
Warsaw will jump back into Northern Lakes Conference work Tuesday when the boys and girls host Wawasee.
JV Earn Invite Title
The Warsaw JV volleyball team won their own Invite Saturday afternoon at the Tiger Den. Warsaw beat South Bend Adams 25-15, 25-20, Homestead 25-14, 25-10, and finally Rochester 25-9, 25-15. Warsaw improves to 8-0 with the wins.
Kacy Bragg had a nice tournament, leading the team in kills (13), aces (five) and blocks (three) along with adding 10 digs and 10 assists. Raina Armey led Warsaw with 15 digs and Alicia Sikora hoisted 40 assists. Nikki Parrett added 13 kills.
Boys Soccer Drops Pair At Carroll
Despite playing down several players to injuries and other reasons, Warsaw hung tough with a pair of quality opponents at the Fort Wayne Carroll Invitational Saturday.
Warsaw fell 2-0 to Homestead in the morning session. The game was tough as the Tigers lost three key defenders in Brady Yeiter, Tomas Rivera and Jacob Kratzsch.
Down several key starters in the afternoon session, Warsaw faced NLC foe Northridge and lost 2-1. Edward Esqueda tallied the lone goal for the Tigers late in the second half.
Warsaw, with the win Thursday against Blackhawk Christian in the tournament, placed fifth overall. The Tigers (2-7) will play at Memorial Tuesday evening.
