Road Closures Discussed In Commissioner’s Meeting
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — The Kosciusko County Commissioner’s meeting, held Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, involved the veteran of the month, court remodeling and plans for new road closures.
The meeting began as veteran Teddy Allen Carr was presented as veteran of the month. The honor was given by Rich Maron. Carr served in the Navy and has resided in Kosciusko County since his honorable discharge.
Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine brought a contract before the commissioners concerning a nurse from Advanced Medical. The contract already had e-signatures from Advanced Medical, but he needed the commissioners’ signatures before they could hire a new nurse. The contract was approved.
County Administrator Ron Robinson had two subjects to bring before the commissioners. First was a bill for $11,000 that he was unsure needed to be paid. He asked for the permission to pay it only if it was owed. It was approved.
Robinson then brought up court remodeling and restructuring. The project would be a complete overhaul of the Kosciusko County courtrooms, including carpets, sound systems, monitors and remodeling. The total cost would be $180,134.18 and it was approved.
Scott Tilden, head of the county highway commission, came before the commissioners to set a date for bids for work on CR 900W, south of SR 25. Bids will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 6. This beginning date and time were approved.
He also told the council that work will begin on Country Club Road Monday, Sept. 14, and is scheduled to reopen Nov. 25. Tilden explained the multiple closings around Kosciusko County are a result of many bridges that were built around the same time are deteriorating together. He stressed that safety was the first priority of his work.
The next commissioners meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
