Triton Sports Wrap – Sept. 8
North Judson slowed down the Triton volleyball program 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 at the Trojan Trench Tuesday night.
Jaela Meister recorded all seven of her kills in the first game. Triton had 16 team digs in the third game, four each by Meister, Quinn Downing and Hannah Wanemacher.
Downing finished with seven digs, Wanemacher eight digs and Meister nine digs for the Lady Trojans. Nicole Sechrist led the team with 10 digs, and chipped in four kills and two aces. Wanemacher added 10 assists.
Triton’s JV closed the night with a 19-25, 25-23, 15-12 marathon with North Judson to send the home supporters happily into the night.
Triton (4-5, 3-2 HNAC) will visit Tippecanoe Valley Thursday.
Golf At North Judson Cancelled
Inclement weather in the North Judson area Tuesday afternoon forced the cancellation of the triangular between HNAC foes Triton, North Judson and West Central. A make-up date was not immediately announced.
Triton is scheduled to play again Thursday at Mystic Hills Golf Course against host Culver Academy.
Academy Strolls Past Triton XC
Culver Academy had little trouble moving past Triton on the cross country circuit, winning the boys meet Tuesday, 18-44, and the girls meet, 20-43, at Potawatomi Park.
Culver claimed six of the top seven spots in the boys race, led by Zach Dunlap’s winning 18:44 time. Triton’s Bailey Watkins was the only Bourbon boy to crack the top seven, placing third at 19:41.
Shaun Honeycutt (8, 20:40), Brock Watkins (20, 23:00), Brendan Ray (21, 24:01) and JD Goodrich (24, 29:25) rounded out the Triton boys results.
Baylee McIntire was again the top runner for the Lady Trojans, and also won the race with a time of 22:45. Culver, however, took the next 10 spots, led by Annie Shea at 23:27.
Aimee Gladieux (12, 25:34), Abigail Powell (15, 26:09), Michaela Best (17, 27:12) and Alysha May (24, 32:13) rounded out the Triton girls results.
Triton will take part in Saturday’s Tippecanoe Valley Invite.
