Tippecanoe Valley Sports Wrap – Sept. 10
The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team notched a win and a loss Thursday night in conference play.
Maconaquah shot 197 to win the Three Rivers Conference triangular contested at the Round Barn Golf Course in Rochester. Valley came in at 213 and North Miami shot 227.
Brandi Jones of Maconaquah was the individual medalist on the night with a 44.
Victoria Biddle finished with a 57 to lead the way for the Vikings.
Blake McBrier shot a 53 and Lexi Cumberland had a 56 for Valley. Liz VanMeter shot a 57, while Makayla Sandbakken had a 62 and Jade VanMeter a 78.
Jordan Krotke shot a 63 for Valley in junior varsity competition.
Valley is now 8-10 on the season. The Vikings will compete in the TRC Tournament on Saturday at the Norwood Golf Course in Huntington.
Tennis Team Drops Close One
The Valley boys tennis team dropped a 3-2 final to Lewis Cass Thursday night.
Nick Caudill posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles to lead Valley.
The duo of Eric Wright and Kane Steller won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles for the Vikings.
Keith Wright lost in straight sets at No. 2 singles and the team of Dakota Parker and Seth Hoffman lost in two sets at No. 1 doubles for Valley.
The deciding point came at No. 1 singles as Nolan Lowe of Cass outlasted Trevor Neeley 6-2, 6-7, 6-0.
Winning in junior varsity play for Valley were the doubles teams of Keegan Larimer and Chris Schipper and Dylan Sponseller and Garett Feldman.
Football Loses To Northfield
The Valley C football team dropped a 21-8 final to Northfield Thursday night.
Jon Humes led Valley with 53 yards rushing on seven carries. Alex Morrison had five carries for 30 yards and Jonathan Fields gained 25 yards on 11 carries. Morrison also had one reception for 18 yards and totaled 46 yards on kick returns.
The trio of Jonathan Daily, Field and Morrison led the defense.
Valley, now 0-3, will host Whitko on Sept. 17.
