Elementary Garden Tractor Club To Sell First Machine
By SCOTT MEHLBERG
Harrison Elementary Physical Education Teacher And Tractor Club Leader
WARSAW — There is exciting news with the Harrison Elementary Garden Tractor Club.
The club was formed two years ago with the intent to better equip students with hands on knowledge of basic mechanics, tools, teamwork, etc. We have been blessed with the addition of a new building, donation of tools and tractors to tear down and restore. We have now reached the end of our first project.
I couldn’t be more proud of the group of kids that had a hand in making this club become so successful.
We will be selling our first machine to help fund our future projects. The tractor is not perfect, but a functioning machine that many students labored over for many hours. It does have a few scratches, but it tells a story of hand on experience from elementary students.
People who would like a chance to own this beauty should follow these simple little steps:
- Write down full name, address and phone number and bid amount. A reserve bid price is set at $500, any bids below that will not be accepted.
- Place the bid in an envelope and mail it to: Harrison Elementary, Attn: Scott Mehlberg, 1300 Husky Trail, Warsaw, IN 46582
- All mailed entries must be received no later than Oct. 2. Entries can be submitted to Mehlberg in person no later than noon Oct. 3.
Club members will open all bid envelopes and reveal who the new owner will be.
The winner will be revealed at the sixth annual tractor show, Oct. 3, at Mehlberg’s property, 4355 W. CR 600N, Leesburg. The winner does not need to be present to win. In case of a tie, the top bidders will be asked to submit a new bid.
All checks should be made out to Harrison elementary and all money raised will go directly back to the kids and future projects and tools needed.
The tractor was donated by David Rice, Crawfordsville.
Information about the club can be found on its Facebook page.
