Triton Sports Wrap – Sept. 15
Triton picked up a big win Tuesday in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference, defeating host LaVille 5-0 in boys tennis.
Gavin Eads and Mace Eads each won sweeps on the singles courts over Dustin Royer and Cam McDaniel. Aaron Stichter had to work to get his court win, going 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (2) to knock off Leo Martinelli.
In doubles play, Triton needed third set wins to get by. Dalton Bailey and Chase Butler took care of Brandon Haisley and Erik Eggbrecht 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at one doubles and Keygan Moiser and Brenden Damron rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win past Connor Carlisle and Robert Clingaman at two doubles.
LaVille won the lone JV court.
Triton improves to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in HNAC play and returns to HNAC play Thursday in hosting North Judson.
Volleyball Gets By ECA
It took a little work Tuesday in Bourbon, but Triton earned a solid 3-1 volleyball win against Elkhart Christian Academy.
Triton won game one 25-18, but the Lady Eagles rallied to win game two 25-20. Both the third and fourth games would be tight, but the Lady Trojans held on for 25-20, 25-21 closers to move over .500 (8-7) for the first time this season.
Jaela Meister stepped up with 10 digs and nine kills while Nicole Sechrist had 10 kills and seven digs for the Lady Trojans. Courtney Jennings played well with four digs, three kills and two aces, Hannah Wanemacher had nine digs and seven helpers, and Quinn Downing had nine digs and six aces.
For ECA (7-7), Hannah Wyngarden had 15 kills and the duo of Caroline Kitchen and Skylar Biddle had 52 digs. Emme Overmyer added 25 assists.
Triton’s JV opened the evening with a 25-24, 25-17 win.
Triton will continue outside the HNAC Thursday when it visits Bethany Christian.
