Vietnam Veteran Properly Buried After 50 Years
MAINE — A Vietnam war veteran who died 50 years ago was finally given a proper burial.
Lt. Neil Taylor’s remains returned home to Rangeley, Maine on Monday, Sept. 14. Lt. Taylor was a Navy pilot in the Vietnam War. In his 68th and final mission, he was shot down by enemy fire.
His family was aware of his death, but never had his body. For years, the military could not gain access to the land where Taylor’s plane crashed.
However, just a few months ago, a forensic military unit was finally able to confirm with DNA that they finally located his remains.
