Triton Sports Wrap – Sept. 17
Triton did well to defend its home court Thursday afternoon, defeating North Judson, 4-1, in boys tennis at Bourbon.
Triton moved to 6-9 on the season and 4-2 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference by sweeping all three singles courts in impressive fashion. The Eads brothers, Gavin and Mace, shut out their opponents at one and two singles. Gavin beat Nate Japkowski and Mace beat Sam Allender by love, love results. Aaron Stichter was nearly as good, dropping Sam Back two and love at three singles.
Brenden Damron and Keygan Moiser beat Nick Sierzputowski and Briker Stayrock three and one at two doubles. Judson’s Kaden Shephard and Bohen Stayrock were able to pick up a win against Dalton Bailey and Chase Butler, four and three, in the one doubles matchup.
The Blue Jays defeated Triton 2-0 in the JV matches.
Triton finishes its regular season calendar Saturday at the Merrillville Invite then will focus on the HNAC tournament next Thursday and Saturday.
Bethany Bests Triton In Five
It went down to the wire, but Bethany Christian held on for a 3-2 win in volleyball at the Mennolands Thursday night. Bethany won the match by a score of 21-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 15-13.
With the busy scoreline, both defenses were busy. Triton had 64 digs total in the match, led by Quinn Downing’s 20 ups.
Hannah Wanemacher had a busy night with 16 assists, nine digs and a kill. Jaela Meister was 9-29 on kill attempts and added 13 digs and two aces. Nicole Sechrist had 12 digs, five aces, four kills and a block. Charlotte Morris added four kills and Brooklyn Bitting had three kills and assisted on two blocks. Emma Ross added nine digs.
Triton’s JV also had a go with Bethany only to fall 25-23, 25-24.
The Lady Trojans even up at 8-8 overall and jump back into HNAC play Tuesday at LaVille.
