Library Board to Hold Public Budget Hearing
NAPPANEE — The board of trustees of the Nappanee Public Library will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2016 budget at 7 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in the library. A regular session will immediately follow the special session. The public is invited to attend.
Pinterest Night 2.0
The library’s popular Pinterest night is back for encore from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28. If you’ve been unable to attend the prior meetings of the program, check out Pinterest night 2.0, which is scheduled quarterly in the library’s new makerspace.
Pinterest night 2.0 will give crafters the chance to work on a variety of projects that have been featured during the monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month. All materials will be supplied to create tile coasters, T-shirt scarves, glass pebble votives, stenciled canvas totes, pool noodle luminaries, and marbled glassware and felt flowers. Just pick your project and pay $5 each. A library staff member will be on hand to assist crafters.
All ages are welcome, but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Supplies are limited for each project. Register by calling (574) 773-7919 or by clicking on the events calendar at www.nappaneelibrary.org.
Makey Makey Workshop for Kids
Kids in third through fifth grade are invited to try their hand at several new Makey Makey invention kits during the first two workshops in the cube at the library. The workshop will be from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29. Turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet for exciting results. This program is great for curious kids who are interested in art, music, engineering and everything in between.
A second workshop will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Space is limited for both sessions. Call the library to register or go online.
