GWMA Working To End World Hunger

WARSAW — The Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association is encouraging people to remember those who are affected by hunger around the world and in Kosciusko County. This Sunday, Sept. 27, has been designated as Hunger Awareness Sunday to remind churches to pray for and support the local pantries and relief agencies addressing the problem across the globe.
According to Church World Service 1.02 billion people are hungry worldwide. One in seven people can’t get enough to eat with half of them being children. Hunger and malnutrition are the greatest threat to health because of persistent poverty, war, corrupt governance, ignorance and disease. In recent times it has been affected by failing economies, inadequate water resources and local food production.
The 31st Annual Kosciusko CROP Hunger Walk will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at The Salvation Army, 501 E. Arthur St., Warsaw, which includes the Beyer Farm Trail or a shorter route that passes through Oakwood Cemetery.
Money collected by the walkers will go to support Church World Service and their outreach around the world to address hunger, emergencies, refugees, immigration, children and water. Church World Service is a cooperative ministry of 37 Christian communions working with partners to eradicate hunger and poverty and to promote peace and justice around the world. The Salvation Army will receive 25 percent of the proceeds from Church World Service to locally address hunger in Kosciusko County and support its choice pantry.
