Fay (Koenig) Pinder
Fay Pinder, 103, Culver, and formerly of Kewanna, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at Millers Merry Manor in Culver.
Born on Dec. 12, 1911 in Grass Creek, she was the daughter of the late George and Raychel (Newman) Koenig.
She was a 1929 Kewanna High School graduate. On Oct. 20, 1934, she married Harold Pinder. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Fay formerly worked at the Kewanna Union Township and Fulton Schools in the cafeteria as the Head Cook. She also formerly worked at Winamac Coil Spring in Kewanna. She was well known for the delicious pie’s she made that were served at Pinder’s Restaurant in Culver. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Grass Creek United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She also attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver.
Survivors include her sons: Ed (Lora Ann) Pinder, Culver; Richard “Dick” (June) Pinder, Crossville, Tenn.; Jerry (Bev) Pinder, Plymouth; and David Pinder, South Bend. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son: Robert W. Pinder; brothers: Floyd and Roy; sisters: Carrie; Ella; May; Rosie; Ruby; Anna; and Bessie; grandchildren: Elizabeth Slocum; Deanna Hale; and Kerry Pinder.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel with Pastor David Sommers officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Kewanna Citizens IOOF Cemetery.
