New Study Shows Americans May Not be Saving Enough
A new report from BankRate.com finds that 30 million Americans tapped their retirement savings for an emergency within the past year.
BankRate Senior Analyst, Greg McBride, said the report also found that 21 million Americans aren’t saving for retirement at all and many who are saving aren’t putting away enough.
“The next big hurdle for a lot of people is they have to save more aggressively. You can’t be saving 3 percent out of your income for retirement and think that this is going to get you where you need to be,” McBride said.
McBride said putting aside 15 percent for retirement, including company matched funds, is an ideal target.
