Toll Road Travel Plaza Improvements to Start This Week
GRANGER —The ITR Concession Co. announced the beginning of Phase 1 of its Travel Plaza Master Plan on Sept. 28, which will extensively renovate Indiana Toll Road amenities available to travelers.
With a budget of more than $30 million, the massive restoration plan includes the demolition and rehabilitation of eight travel plazas. After this project is complete, the newly designed structures will feature modern travel facilities with state-of-the-art technology and new food options.
The Travel Master Plan initial schedule places project completion by early 2018 with the project ultimately beginning Oct. 1. ITRCC will permanently close the Steuben County travel plazas and fuel posts.
“Our strategy is to create sites that will make Hoosiers proud of their state and their toll road,” said Ken Daley, ITRCC CEO. “We are incorporating Indiana touches into the concepts and design and are ready to see them come to fruition.”
A webpage has been created to continuously update travelers on toll road closures and schedules of construction.
