William Tinkey
William “Bill” Tinkey, formerly of Warsaw, passed away at his residence at Hubbard Hill Retirement Community in Elkhart, Indiana at midnight Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at the age of 87.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Atwood and a former member and past president of Atwood Lions Club. Bill was a retired farmer in Warsaw and Kosciusko County.
He also enlisted in the U.S. Army on Jan. 2, 1951 and served until his honorable discharge in January 1953.
He was born on Sept. 11, 1928 to Noah Tinkey and Ina (Gearhart) Tinkey in Warsaw. On Sept. 5, 1969 he was married to Evelyn Jane (Creighton) Barker Tinkey who passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons: Terry (Carolyn) Barker, Fishers; Lee (Pamela) Barker, Elkhart; Karl (Cindy) Barker, Leeburg; two daughters: Debra (James) Caton, Osceola; Diana (Mark) Osborn, Elkhart; and his daughter-in-law: Melody Barker, Warsaw.
He also leaves behind seventeen grandchildren; and thirty-seven great-grandchildren; one brother: Jerry (Sandy) Tinkey, Warsaw; and his sister: Beverly (Andy) Hoffer, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons DeWayne and Neil Barker, brother Max Tinkey, and his two sisters Dorothy Adams and Marilyn Tinkey.
Visitation will be held from 4–8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Bud Walterhouse. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and active members of Army Honor Guard.
