Event To Highlight Area Lake

NOBLE COUNTY — There are more than 50 lakes in the Tippecanoe Watershed, ranging from exciting sport lakes to peaceful, undeveloped ones like Crane Lake. Next month, this in Noble County lake will be highlighted during an event coordinated by the Upper Lakes of the Tippecanoe River Association and the Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation.
From 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Big Lake Church of God, Jed Pearson, DNR Fish specialist, and Scott Zeigler, watershed specialist, will give a history and update on the current status of the lake and its drainage boundaries.
After their presentations, Austin Fergusson, owner of Dulcius Vineyard, will share some lessons on grape production and how he uses best practices to help keep his land green and the water clean and healthy.
Following the lesson on viniculture, Lyn Crighton, executive director of the Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation, will explain how to protect natural aquatic treasures and preserve them for generations to come.
The event will be at the corner of SR 109 and CR 600/700, across from Crooked Lake Golf Course. Those who arrive early have the chance for a meet and greet and light supper, beginning at 6 p.m. The entire event is free and open to anyone who is interested.
