Winona Turpin
Winona Turpin, 86, formerly of North Webster, passed away Sept. 30, 2015 at the Oschner Medical Center in Slidell, La.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1928 in Evansville, to Leonard and Esther (Ershig) Dewig. On Feb. 29, 1966 she married Michael Turpin who preceded her in 2002. She moved to North Webster in 1975 coming from New York City. She served for 15 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy, serving tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam.
She was a member of the American Legion as well as the Retired Navy Nurse Association. She is survived by her daughter: Mrs. Clarence V. (Michelle) Lambert Jr., Slidell, La.; grandaughter: Vivianna Antoinette-Marie Lambert. Five step-grandchildren, and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Eastlund Funeral Home in Syracuse. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the St. Joseph cemetery in Evansville.
