Albert W. Jennens
Albert W. Jennens 99, Rochester, and former long-time resident of Akron, passed away at 12:09 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1916 in Middletown, Ohio, the son of Theodore A. and Charlotte (Howard) Jennens. He served with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II serving in the South Pacific. On Aug. 4, 1944 in Valparaiso, Indiana, he married Kathleen A. Morris. She preceded him in death on December 11, 1988. On June 2, 1990 he married Mary F. (McDougle) Deniston and she preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2010.
Mr. Jennens had been a farmer for many years. He had also worked for Coachman Trailers, a Private Lab Technician in Gary, Indiana, and had built the Akron Drive-In Restaurant in 1966 and operating it for many years before selling. Mr. Jennens had been a member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriner’s Lodge for over sixty three years, American Legion and the Akron Church of God.
Survivors include his step-children: William Michael and wife Barbara Deniston, Nashville, Tennessee, Marianne and husband Don Christianson, Rochester; two step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; sister: Betty Bigler, Indianapolis; companion, Ruth Ann Funk, Rochester, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Heldt.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 10, at Akron Cemetery, Akron, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana.
