Three Rivers Powerball Winner Talks About How She’ll Spend Millions
THREE RIVERS, Mich. — Payday came early for a lucky Michigan woman who hit the Powerball jackpot.
Fifty-year-old Julie Leach of Three Rivers, Mich., claimed her $310.5-million check Tuesday.
Leach found out she was a winner when she checked her tickets while on her lunch break at McDonald’s.
After realizing she won the jackpot, Leach quit her job as a third shift supervisor at Aquatic, a fiberglass factory in Three Rivers.
She says she plans to use her winning to take care of her three kids and 11 grandchildren.
“I’m gonna take care of my kids,” Leach explained. “I don’t want them to have to work like I had to work and deal with the kind of things that I had to deal with over life. I just want to make it a good life for them.”
Leach chose a lump sum payment of $197.4-million, which ends up being about $140-millon after taxes.
