Plaintiffs Seeking Mediation In Lawsuit
SYRACUSE — Plaintiffs in the lawsuit against Oakwood Resorts have paid a $25,000 bond required by Circuit Court Judge Mike Reed. The bond is to protect Oakwood Resorts against loss of business as a result of an injunction regarding noise levels on the outdoor patio of The Back Porch/The Pier, Oakwood’s restaurant.
In further developments, the plaintiffs, who live or own property across Conklin Bay from Oakwood, have sought mediation.
Dr. Rex Parent, owner of Oakwood Resorts, has agreed to mediation. However at press time, (of today’s issue of The Mail-Journal) details of who would oversee mediation and where it would be conducted were still being worked out.
Tamra Henry, general manager at Oakwood, said mediation is expected to take place sometime in November or December. In the meantime, due to the recent change in weather there has not been any outdoor entertainment on the restaurant’s outdoor patio. Nor are any weddings or outdoor events planned until next May.
The entertainment tent will be taken down Monday, Oct. 19, for the season.
