Vikings Fall To Wabash In Rematch
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley football team almost made the most of its rematch Friday night.
The host Vikings dropped a 13-6 final to Wabash in a Three Rivers Conference playoff game to end the regular season.
Valley had lost 39-15 at Wabash last week in a TRC regular-season game.
The Vikings took a 6-0 lead on a touchdown run by Brandon Webster in the opening period Friday night.
The Apaches scored in the second quarter to take a 7-6 lead and added another score in the fourth stanza for the win.
Valley drops to 3-6 on the season and Wabash improves to 7-2.
Webster had 19 rushes for 37 yards and two receptions for 26 yards for the Vikings. Garrett Bell had nine carries for 11 yards and Aric Shafer two receptions for 39 yards.
Quarterback Alec Craig was 4-9 passing for 65 yards and had 11 rushes for 43 yards for Valley.
Bell led the defense with six solo tackles and three assists. Brice Webster had six solo stops and three assists as well for Valley. Harrison Sponseller had five solos and two assists and a fumble recovery, while Isaac Sponseller had three assists and a fumble recovery and Wes Melanson three solo stops and two assists.
Valley plays at Jimtown and Wabash travels to Lewis Cass for first-round sectional games next Friday night.
