Warsaw Frosh Football Tops Panthers
WARSAW – A big first half carried the Warsaw freshman football team to a 34-28 win over NorthWood Thursday night.
The host Tigers built a 34-7 halftime lead and then held off the Panthers for the Northern Lakes Conference win.
Josh West fired a trio of touchdown passes to pace the winners. Eli Owens hauled in two touchdown receptions and Jack Stewart had one touchdown catch.
Bryce Garner rushed for a pair of touchdowns for the Tigers and Max Bradley connected on 6-7 PAT tries.
Gustavo Cartejenas and Kane Dawson each had an interception and John Culbertson and Ian Glogovsky each had a fumble recovery for the Warsaw defense. The trio of Culbertson, Dawson and Cartejenas were cited for their play on defense.
Warsaw, now 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the NLC, closes its season with a game at Concord Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
