UPDATE: Warsaw/Wayne Fire Chief Mike Wilson stated fire damage to the new hospital is minimal.

The fire started on the first floor where construction work was taking place. A spark is believed to have ignited wall insulation, spreading up the wall to the second and third floor. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire from the third floor.

Winona Lake Fire Department and Lutheran EMS – Kosciusko were at the scene.

WARSAW — Warsaw/Wayne Fire Department is responding to a fire at 1355 Mariners Drive, the site of the new Parkview Hospital. A full assist has been requested from Winona Lake Fire Department,

The fire reportedly started in the wall and smoke is showing.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 12:14 p.m.
