Betty Lou Coy
Betty Lou Coy, 89, Syracuse, passed away at 7:26 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on April 21, 1926, in Syracuse to Carl Robert and Mabel Pearl (Bunger) O’Haver.
She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and attended Syracuse High School. On Nov. 10, 1945, in Syracuse she married Wayne L. Coy, who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2007. She was a homemaker, retired in 1978 from Syracuse Rubber Company after 20+ years and formerly worked at G and W Pizza and the Five and Dime Store both in Syracuse.
She was a former member of the Church of the Brethren in Syracuse and former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and V.F.W. Auxiliary both of Syracuse.
She is survived by three sons: Douglas W. (Linda) Coy, Kimmell; Michael D. (Cathy) Coy; and David W. (Susan) Coy, all of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson: Ty Lee Coy; five sisters: Helen Shock; Mildred Plank; Eloise Halsey; Pauline Speicher; and Gloria Lutz; three brothers: Emmet O’Haver; Carl O’Haver; and Marvin Shock.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the Syracuse Cemetery with Pastor Stan Owen of the Syracuse Church of God officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
