Warsaw, Winona Lake Abuzz With ‘Bachelor’ Filming
WARSAW — Warsaw and Winona Lake are both getting their moment in the spotlight this weekend as camera crews from NZK Productions travel around the area filming ABC’s hit reality show, “The Bachelor”.
Ben Higgins, formerly of Warsaw, and recent contestant on “The Bachelorette,” has brought his search for love through the reality show back home. Higgins, along with contestants and production crews, have been seen throughout the Warsaw and Winona Lake area. This morning, Higgins was seen shooting shots outdoors under trees, reportedly taking advantage of fall scenery in Winona Lake. It was also reported Higgins and contestants were seen boarding a boat on Winona Lake despite the fall chill.
Higgins, who formerly volunteered with the Baker Youth Club, reportedly visited the location with contestants as well. Representatives from BYC noted a section of the club was closed off for Higgins and contestants to film scenes with the children at the club.
Reports have also been made that filming around downtown Warsaw has taken place as well as in the Center Lake area.
As Warsaw prepared for the annual Spooktacular celebration, Rex’s Rendezvous prepared for an extremely busy night as well. Scenes for the show are being filmed this evening at Rex’s Rendezvous and guests to the establishment have been lined up for hours hoping to get their chance to see Higgins and cast in the flesh. Though InkFreeNews was able to see cast and crew set up for the date, in order to maintain an air of mystery for when the show airs, press was not permitted to photograph the date.
However, on Sunday the production company will be putting on a carnival event in downtown Warsaw that is open to the public to join in on.
The event will be held on Buffalo Street and Main Street and check in will begin at 7 p.m. Guests must sign a release and obtain a wristband. No entry onto rides will be permitted without a wristband. Rides will begin at 7:30 p.m. and are complimentary. Games and food will be available for purchase.
To receive a wristband, guests must be 18 years old or over, or they must have a legal guardian present. Additionally, guests must sign a release allowing the show to film them.
No clothing with logos and no jerseys are permitted at the event.
NZK noted filming may also occur at the Courthouse on Monday.
Several streets will be closed for a period of time to allow for filming to occur. Though streets will be closed, for the majority of the time sidewalks will be open. In addition, NZK will be employing security and placing barricades around the perimeter.
