Ivy Tech Students Hosting Halloween-Themed Freak Show Event
WARSAW — Honor students at Ivy Tech Community College’s Warsaw Campus are gearing up to host a spooktactular event dubbed the “GMO Freak Show.” Participants will learn about genetically modified organisms and today’s use of them through experiments and story-telling. Attractions include: the spectacular spider goat; the wonder of golden rice; and, glow in the dark cats.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Ivy Tech Community College’s Warsaw Campus, 2545 Silveus Crossing, Warsaw.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to experience our students’ in-depth research exclusive to this event, and visit our beautiful campus,” said Lori Roe, department chair for Ivy Tech Community College’s University Transfer Division and associate professor in communications.
The event is free and open to the public. The host of the event is the Beta Zeta Kappa chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society at two-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa celebrates student success and focuses their events and activities on the four hallmarks of leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service.
