Plea Agreements Entered In Several Cases
WARSAW — Plea agreements were taken under advisement this morning, Monday, Oct. 26, by Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Mike Reed on at least four individuals — Jason R. Bontrager, Gage M. Wood, Brandon L. Bolden and Sharee N. Latta. In all four cases, the individuals are facing drug related charges.
One other plea hearing and a sentencing, also on drug related charges, were continued at the last minute.
These individuals changed their initial not guilty pleas to guilty:
- Sharee N. Latta, 20, 3018 W. Baseline Road, Albion, who was arrested on April 21, on a charge of dealing in a narcotic drug, a level 3 felony, pleaded guilty to lessor charge of dealing in a narcotic drug, a level 5 felony. Her agreement, if accepted, would result in no more than three years of incarceration. Any additional time ordered served would be on probation. She will appear back in court at 9:15 a.m. Dec. 7.
- Gage M. Wood, 21, who has given courts addresses of 56 West North St., Milford; 53013 Pine Brook Drive, Bristol, and the county jail, was arrested Feb. 12, on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; and false informing, a class B misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty to two of the three charges. Wood entered a guilty plea to possession of methamphetamine and false informing with the charge of possession of paraphernalia to be dismissed, if the plea agreement is accepted. In his agreement, his term in jail is not to exceed a total of one and half years. Any additional time will be served on probation. His sentences are to be served consecutive. - Brandon LaMarr Bolden, 22, 224 Sophie Lane, Warsaw, was arrested on March 22, for dealing in a narcotic drug, a level 2 felony, and possession of a narcotic drug, a level 3 felony. He pleaded guilty to count II, possession of a narcotic drug, with the dealing in a narcotic drug to be dismissed, if the plea is accepted. The terms of his agreement is that jail time will not exceed five years, any time beyond that would be suspended and served on probation. He may also face probation violation charges in another case outside of Kosciusko County. He will appear back on court at 9 a.m. Dec. 7. See related: WPD Arrests Four On Drug Charges.
- Jason Richard Bontrager, 36, 72833 CR 29, Syracuse, was arrested in August 2014 on initial charges of corrupt business influence, a level 5 felony, and dealing in a synthetic drug or synthetic drug lookalike substance, a level 6 felony. An amended charge of conspiracy to commit dealing in a synthetic drug, was filed, and accepted by the court. He pleaded guilty to the amended charge, a level 6 felony. In his plea agreement, it calls for a jail sentence not to exceed one and a half years, with any additional time to be served on probation and the original charges being dropped. This is Bontrager’s second plea agreement. He had entered a plea agreement on Jan. 18, 2015, but withdrew his plea. The case was set for a jury trial July 21-22, which was continued. In all four cases the defendants agreed to testify against any and all co-defendants, if necessary and provide a clean-up statement with law enforcement.
A plea agreement for Michelle A. Stimmel on charges of dealing in a narcotic drug, corrupt business influence and dealing in a synthetic drug or synthetic drug lookalike substance, was continued. Additionally the sentencing of Bradley A. Trostle, 497 Clinic St., Warsaw, on a charge of dealing in a schedule I controlled substance, which was to have occurred at 9:15 a.m. was continued to 9:30 a.m. Nov. 23. Related: Trostle Arrested On Drug Charges.
