SYRACUSE — Upcoming programs at Syracuse Public Library include:
Special Programs
The days are getting shorter, which is good with Halloween coming up and Trick or Treat hours set for 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The staff and volunteers are preparing an enchanted forest to open during trick or treat hours. Come to a magical forest to meet story-book characters who live in the woods.
The children’s department will be in quasi-closure on Saturday, Oct. 31, with books and movies getting checked out in the adult department. Regular hours and services will be provided in the adult department.
The library has two monthly events on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Toddler’s dance time is moving to music in the morning at 10:30 a.m. Children can start the day with an activity that will shake the sillies out. The Doctor Who group is starting season six with some lunar revelations from 6-8 p.m. Season six is a dynamic time to connect many unanswered questions from the previous episodes. Both groups eat a snack. Contact the library at (574) 457-3022 for information.
Story Times
The children’s story time will be going for a walk at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26. Children help staff member Gisela Vore tell a story while exploring the neighborhood. Tuesday’s story time is finishing Critters: scary or sweet with staff member Jeanne Mueller. Children come at 10:30 a.m. to hear “I’m Trying to Love Spiders”, make a craft and eat a treat. Story times are a fantastic way for young children to practice early literacy and social skills.
