Bethel Bests IUSB In Home Opener
MISHAWAKA – In the home opener for Bethel College’s men’s basketball team, the Pilots defeated Indiana University South Bend 103-84 in the “Crosstown Showdown” Tuesday evening at Wiekamp Center.
The Pilots gradually started to pull away in the second half, going on a 20-10 run led by sophomore Gage Ott, who led the Pilots with 21 points in the second half.
Ott would lead all scorers with 27 points, shooting 66 percent from the field, while Junior Clay Yeo would lift the Pilots with 26 points, hitting 3-of-5 from the beyond the three point line. Jordyn Coon would boost the Pilots off the bench with a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
Javonte Young led the Titans with 23 points while Riley Stichter would add his own double-double, scoring 18 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Jeremy Jones would add 14 points for the Titians.
The Pilots shot a solid 58 percent from the field will holding the Titans to 37 percent during the night. The Pilots now lead the all-time series between IUSB 59-6.
The Pilots next game will be home next Wednesday, Nov. 4, against Andrews University at 7 p.m.
