Orville ‘Jay’ Omer Kling Jr.
Orville “Jay” Omer Kling, Jr., 68, Bremen, passed away peacefully at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, in his home.
Jay was born on Jan. 7, 1947, the son of Orville “Bud” and Verda (Jarrell) Kling. On Feb. 18, 1967, he married Julie Miller in Nappanee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years: Julie; two children: Rob (Angie) Kling, Bremen; and Dawn (Aaron) Budny, South bend; and three grandchildren: Alex; Joshua; and Samantha. He is also survived by his mother: Verda, South Bend; a brother: Charles (James) Kling, Fla.; and sister-in-law: Gloria (Jack) Miller, Pierceton; several nieces and nephews; and his dog: Abby. He is preceded in death by his father and a brother: Garry Kling.
Jay proudly served his country in the U.S. Army before his honorable discharge in 1973 and was stationed in El Paso, TX, Germany and Korea. After his military service he worked for Bremen Castings until 1988, holding many positions. He then drove truck with his faithful dog, Benji until his retirement in 2004. Jay was very active with the American Legion Post 191 and V.F.W. Post 8972 and was Past Commander of both. He was also a Past American Legion 3rd District Commander.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, in the funeral home. Rev. Gary Hinkle will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery with full military honors. The fmaily prefers memorial contributions to be made to the V.F.W. Post 8972 of Bremen, or to Pet Refuge.
