Frank Lakner
Frank Lakner, 82, of Bremen, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2015 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Frank was born Jan. 15, 1933, the son of the late Matthew and Mary (Horvath) Lakner. On October 20, 1956, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, he married Janet DeSmet.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for NIPSCO as a Service Representative and retired in 1991 after over 30 years of service. He was an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Bremen and a member of the Bremen American Legion. Frank loved to golf and was in charge of the Men’s Golf League at Sprig-O-Mint for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet; three children, Gregory A. (Jacquelyn) Lakner of Elkhart, Jan Marie (Richard) Hank of Granger, and Bradley F. (Alicia) Lakner of Springfield, IL; six grandchildren, Brittney (Tre) Raderstorf, Janee (Luke) Robertson, Grant Carlile, Brea (Grant) Peterson, Michael (Lynnette) Lakner and Celina Lakner; and five great grandchildren, Lilly Jackson, Ryleigh Peterson, Karsten Raderstorf, Bennett Peterson and Avery Raderstorf. He is also survived by a sister, Kathrine (John) Lockwitz of South Bend.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 SR 331, Bremen, with Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4 in St. Dominic Catholic Church, 803 W. Bike St., Bremen.
