Amanda ‘Mandi’ L. Abbott
Amanda “Mandi” L. Abbott, 34, Thornhope, passed away at 10:53 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 14, 1980, in Winamac, she was the daughter of Kerry Knebel and Karrie Barker. She was a 1999 Winamac High School graduate and also a graduate of IUPUI Kokomo nursing program. On Dec. 19, 2013, she married Dean E. Abbott Jr. and he survives. Mandi was a RN for 12 years and most recently she was employed at Cruiser’s in Winamac.
She attended Church of the Heartland in Winamac. Mandi enjoyed watching football, especially her favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Mandi loved spending time with all her family. She was a very energetic person who never knew a stranger and was the life of whatever setting she was in.
Survivors include her husband: Dean Abbott Jr., Thornhope; mother: Karrie Barker, Winamac; father and stepmother: Kerry (Debra) Knebel, Muncie; daughters: Maddie Foster; Mylie Foster; both of Winamac; stepsons: Owen Abbott, Winamac; and Parker Abbott, Winamac; brother: Shawn (Kaycee) Knebel, Indianapolis; grandmothers: Bonnie Barker, Winamac; Dorothy (Jim) Connell, Pulaski; and Sandy Knebel, Winamac; father-in-law: Dean (Kathy) Abbott Sr., Winamac; mother-in-law: Sue (Kevin) Thomas, Rochester; and nieces; Maylee and Karlee Knebel, Indianapolis. She is also survived by several aunts; uncles; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by grandfathers: Virgil Barker; Neil Knebel; and Ernie Connell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Church of the Heartland in Winamac with Pastor Heath Hiatt officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at McKinley Memorial Gardens in Winamac.
