UPDATE: Accident On East Bowser Road
UPDATE: Scott P. Wippel, 49, Milford, was immediately airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, following a one-vehicle accident Monday evening on Bowser Road. He suffered multiple injuries and is listed in critical condition. A passenger in the vehicle, Cody R. Stuckman, 21, North Webster, suffered minor injuries.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department reports the accident occurred at approximately 7:58 p.m. at the intersection of Bowser Road and CR 375E. Responders arrived and located a 2001 GMC Yukon in the roadway, with Wippel partially ejected from the vehicle.
Milford and Turkey Creek fire departments extracted Wippel. A landing zone was set up at Wawasee High School for Lutheran Air ambulance.
Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team reconstructionist have preliminarily determined Wippel had been westbound on Bowser Road, from Syracuse. He purportedly stopped and picked up Stuckman who had been walking along the roadway. As Wippel continued westbound, his SUV left the roadway near the curve at CR 375E, hitting several trees on the south side of the road, before rolling over and landing in the middle of Bowser Road.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team members stated the crash is still under investigation.
The team was assisted at the scene by members of Milford Fire Department, Syracuse/Turkey Creek Township EMS and Fie Territory, Lutheran EMS and Syracuse Police Department.
MILFORD — Lutheran EMS Kosciusko and Milford Fire Department have been called to the scene of an accident in the area of CR 375E and Bowser Road, Syracuse.
Syracuse Police and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to the single vehicle accident on Bowser Road, finding the red SUV badly damaged in the middle of the road.
One passenger was checked at the scene while the driver has been flown by Lutheran Air to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Lutheran Air landed at Wawasee High School to transport the driver of the SUV.
According to officials on scene, the SUV left the roadway striking a line of trees and bouncing back into the roadway. Debris from the vehicle littered the road and tree line as police try to piece together the events.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Turkey Creek Fire Territory and EMS, Lutheran EMS Kosciusko, Milford Fire, Syracuse Police and KCSD.
