The North Webster Community Public Library salutes our nation’s military veterans with the first of two programs at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in a two-part Military Program Series.
Local veteran Jim Smith will present his story as an Army Reservist activated to serve in Kuwait and Iraq. A Kosciusko County resident, this married father of two currently serves as a deputy for the Kosciusko County Sherriff’s Department. Come and hear this personal account of military experiences in the Middle East.
Then return the following week at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, for Marine Veteran John Gabbard’s presentation on his service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Video presentations of September’s 2015 Cemetery Walk are now available for viewing on the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us. Just go to the home page and click on 2015 Cemetery Walk Videos at the top of the page. If you missed this year’s Cemetery Walk or want to review it, you can hear the life stories of the late individuals highlighted during the Walk. Videos from past Cemetery Walks can be viewed as well.
Bring your craft project to the library to work on and join us for some friendly conversation during craft and chat 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. The second Wednesday each month, crafters gather for an informal time of visiting while working on their individual projects. Whether it’s knitting, scrapbooking, needlepoint, or whatever, bring it and enjoy the company of others.
The kids will have fun building together with Legos during the Second Saturday Lego Club 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. The library provides the Legos while the kids supply the ideas. It’s a good opportunity to spend quality time with your child as they develop creative building skills. The adults have as much fun as the kids, because you are never too old to play with Legos.
Home schoolers, Sunday school teachers, and others will be interested in the youth department’s NEST Learning System that includes workbooks and corresponding biblical and biographical DVDs. The library’s collection includes over 50 workbooks and DVDs that cover a wide range of biblical subjects and historical figures. They make a valuable teaching tool for home schooling, children’s ministries, and family learning. Stop by and browse through the NEST Learning System that is on display in the Youth Department.
The library is continually updating and expanding our collection. You can peruse new items online on the library’s website or stop by the new arrivals bookcase near the front entrance of the library. If you are looking for something specific that we don’t have, we can often obtain it for you from other libraries through our interlibrary loan system. Just ask at the circulation desk.
