Richard A. McLochlin
Richard A. McLochlin, 74, Rochester, passed away at 6:06 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at his residence.
Born June 6, 1941, in Rochester, he was the son of the late John Robert “Bob” and Marie K. Richardson McLochlin. On Nov. 26, 1960, in Plymouth, he was married to Lucinda A. Kindig, and she survives.
A lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rochester, Richard graduated from Rochester High School in 1959. He was a farmer for many years before beginning his career in public service as Fulton County Sheriff, a position he held from 1983-1990. He was an honorary graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. As an active member of the law enforcement community, he served as secretary from 1987-1990 of the Indiana Sheriff Association, where he was a lifetime member. After serving as Sheriff, Rich served four years as Fulton County Assessor. He was also a member of the Elk’s, Moose Lodge, Eagles, and American Legion Auxiliary. Richard enjoyed golfing, bowling, and fishing. In 2015, he was voted the Democrat Man of the year for Fulton County.
Richard is survived by his wife: Cindy, Rochester; son: John R. (Hilda) McLochlin, Rochester; daughter: Andrea A. Marrs, Coronado, Calif.; and Shannon M. McLochlin, Culver; daughter-in-law: Nicholle McLochlin, Rochester; 15 grandchildren; one sister: Patricia Jean (Bill) McMillen, Rochester. He was preceded in death by one son: Jeff McLochlin, who died while serving as a US Army Ranger in Afghanistan on July 5, 2006.
His family will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial privately at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester with Fr. Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester.
