Voter Turn Out Light At Claypool
Close to 10 percent of the eligible voters for Claypool Town Election had made it to the polls by mid-morning today, Nov. 3. According to poll officials only 25 voters out of the 278 registered voters had voted. But more amazing is the number of individuals poll workers had to turn away.
Theila Banta stated “we have had people who can’t vote. A lot of the county people are coming in.” The numbers, it is believed, would have doubled had those individuals been able to vote.
Tim Yeager, Democrat poll clerk, noted voters have been dribbling in all morning.
Residents within the city limits of Claypool are voting for clerk-treasurer and three seats on the town council. There is a race for clerk-treasurer and two of the three seats on the town council.
Town residents will be deciding if the clerk-treasurer will be incumbent Connie Morgan, Democrat or Elizabeth J. Brewer, Libertarian.
For town council the races are for the seat for the center district and southern district.
Seeking the center district win are newcomers Paul T. Berkey, Republican and Elizabeth Heiman, Democrat.
Seeking the seat for the southern district are Larry D. Neher, Republican, and incumbent Thomas (Tom) E. Burnworth Jr., Democrat.
Incumbent Niki Miller, Democrat, is unopposed for the north district seat.
