Business Owner Arrested For Writing Bad Check
WARSAW — A Roann man owning a home improvement business has been arrested after writing a bad check for construction material.
Scot A. Miller, 47, 7432 W. River Road, Roann, was booked Thursday afternoon in the Kosciusko County Jail. He is being held on charges of check fraud, a level 6 felony. His has a $5,000 cash bond.
Charges were filed on Oct. 8 in Kosciusko Superior Court 1, after the prosecutor’s office attempted several times to speak with Miller regarding a check with insufficient funds. Bank records, obtained by the prosecutor’s office, show Miller did not have the funds in his account at the time the check was written.
Events began on Aug. 21, when Randy Richcreek, owner of LT Siding Window Door, reported on June 27, construction material was delivered to Miller, owner of Miller Home Improvement. Miller at that time wrote a check in the amount of $3,883.57 to LT Siding Window Door. On Aug. 19 the check was returned as nonsufficient funds. Richcreek attempted to contact Miller numerous times with no success.
The prosecutor’s office attempted to contact Miller on Aug. 21 and again on Sept. 9. In both instances the phone number listed for Miller went to voice mail and messages were left to contact the prosecutor’s office.
