MERIDIAN, MISS. — An IHOP restaurant in Mississippi became the scene of a strange parking lot collapse Saturday.

Drone video shows the collapse that swallowed 12 cars outside the restaurant.

No one was injured when the pavement gave way leaving the huge gash in the ground

One witness said they had just stepped into the restaurant when they heard a giant “boom.”

Despite the appearance officials say the collapse was not the result of a sinkhole which normally occurs when an underground aquifer dries up leaving a hole in the ground.

Engineers and crews are expected to be on the site today studying the site to try and determine the cause of the collapse.
