‘Star Wars’ Fan Who Was Granted Last Wish To See New Film Has Died
SPRING, TEX. — “Star Wars” fan Daniel Fleetwood, who’d been diagnosed with terminal cancer, feared he wouldn’t live to see the latest film in the franchise. Just last week, director J.J. Abrams made sure Fleetwood didn’t miss “The Force Awakens.”
And the gesture came just in time. Daniel’s wife, Ashley, shared news of his death on Facebook Tuesday.
“Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end,” she wrote. “He is now one with God and with the force.”
“He passed in his sleep and in peace,” Ashley told their followers. “He will always be my idol and my hero. Please hug uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace my love.”
Ashley was instrumental in helping Daniel get his last wish and see the film his so anticipated. But she wasn’t alone in rooting for him to be the film’s first viewer.
