Barbara Niester 90, Decatur, Ill., and Rochester, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur, Ill. where she had resided the past two years.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Whitfield and Emma B. (Bollongino) Wilcox. On March 9, 1947, in Grinnell, Iowa, she married I. Duane Niester. They resided in Grinnell until moving to Akron, and then to Rochester in 1957. Duane preceded her death on Nov. 6, 1989.

Barb was a homemaker. Elated horse lovers, Duane and Barb where members of the Nizpah Horse Patrol, traveling to many parades to march with their horses.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law: Linda Niester; grandsons: Andrew (Aaron) and Richard Niester; great-grandchildren: Payton, 6,; Wyatt, 20 months, all of Decatur, Ill. She was preceded in death by her son: Douglas D. Niester, on Aug. 6, 2015.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester.
