GOSHEN — Ignition Music Garage has been Elkhart County’s only full-service record store since opening in February 2012. With over 10,000 titles in stock, they are also the largest vinyl/CD retailer in the Michiana area.

“We have seen interest in vinyl and turntables grow every year that we have been open,” stated Ignition founder Steve Martin. “We have worked hard to provide a place where people can hear music the way the artist intended. Whether that is through a great stereo system, streaming through Sonos or during our live music series.”

Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1,400 independently owned record stores in the United States. The success of the annual holiday every third Saturday in April has led to more creative limited edition releases than any other event in the music business. These titles are highly prized by vinyl collectors, and many bring huge premiums on the secondary resale market.

Ignition Music Garage has participated in the last four Record Store Days, and plans are underway for Ignition’s fourth Record Store Day Black Friday. This year’s Black Friday contains fascinating titles and many albums available on vinyl for the first time. A list of the available titles can be found at recordstoreday.tuneportals.com.

“We doubled our order for Record Store Day 2015 and had a ‘record sales day,’ so we are planning on doing the same for the Black Friday event Nov. 27. We plan on having hundreds of the limited edition titles, and multiple copies high-demand albums. We will be serving Goshen Brewing Co. craft beers, wine and free soft drinks for the kids. We also plan on having food just like we did on Record Store Day.”

Participating record stores are not allowed to reserve Record Store Day Black Friday items, but they are allowed to disclose which titles will be available. Feel free to call Ignition at (574) 971-8282 during normal business hours, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
