Oma L. Messer
Oma L. Messer, 74, Wawaka, passed away after fighting a long courageous battle, on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015. She was born on Sept. 25, 1941, the daughter of Kendall and Olive (Patton) Griffith of Garrett, Ky. On July 30, 1971, she married Flem J. Messer; he survives.
Also surviving are her children: Rick Johnson, Ligonier; Johnny Messer, Inez, Ky.; Betty Gullion, Chillicothe, Ohio; Tiffany (Kevin) Malcolm, Avilla; David (Jodi) Messer, Albion; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three siblings: Kenneth (Lucy) Griffith, Topeka; James Griffith, Ligonier; and Wendy Griffith, Fort Wayne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: Flem Messer Jr.; her parents; siblings: Carmeline “Candy” Cooper; and Bufford Griffith; and a son-in-law: Robert Gullion.
Oma retired from Parker Hannifin in Ligonier after 22 years of faithful service. She attended Shilo Baptist Church in Ligonier and was loved by everyone that met her.
A memorial service in Oma’s honor will held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Shilo Baptist Church in Ligonier. Pastor Jimmy Shepherd will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
