Earl V. ‘Butch’ Amburgey
Earl V.”Butch” Amburgey, 60, North Manchester, died at 11:58 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born June 27, 1955, in Hamilton, Ohio, to John C. and Mary R. (Tidwell) Amburgey. He married Linda D. Hanger on July 22, 1995. Earl was a truck driver for Sharkey Transportation for the last year and a half. He was also an over the road truck driver for many years and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, golf, vegetable gardening, and mushroom hunting. He was also a good cook and loved to spend time with his family. Earl was a great story and joke teller, along with being a loving husband and father. During Earl’s stint with the US Marines, he served as a guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife: Linda; three sons: David E. Amburgey, Kendallville; Tyler J.W. Amburgey, North Manchester; and Daryl (Andrea) Hanger, Greenwood; two daughters: Brenda D. Amburgey-Murphy, Butler; Susan M. (Dustin) Martin, Perry, Ohio; his brother: Paul Jene Knox, Clay City, Ky.; and three sisters: Brenda (Gary) Madden, Hindman, Ky.; Betty Amburgey, Hindman, Ky.; and Agatha (Charlie) Johnson, Hindman, Ky.; along with six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter: Amanda J. Amburgey.
Family and friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at McKee Mortuary. Pastor Kurt Borgmann and Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Alexandria, Va. or Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.
