Melinda A. ‘Mendy’ Stump
Melinda A. “Mendy” Stump, 61, of Albion, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at her home.
She was born Jan. 29, 1954 in Kendallville, a daughter of Lee G. and Ann H. (Butler) Boggs.
Her formative years were spent in Avilla, Cromwell and Skinner Lake near Albion. She graduated from Central Noble High School.
On April 20, 1974 she was united in marriage to Daniel K. Stump. They made their home in Whitley County for three years, moving to their present home in April 1977.
She was employed at Dana Corp. in Churubusco for a few years, was an instructional assistant at Wolf Lake Elementary School and a substitute teacher at Central Noble Schools in addition to Stump’s Lawn Care for 25 years.
A member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church, her sincere love for God and others was evident and will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Surviving relatives include her husband: Dan; four children: Kathryn (Josh) Knox of Albion, Sara (Brad) Garton of Fort Wayne, Matthew (Brittany) Stump of Ligonier and David (Shannon) Stump of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren: Autumn, Cole and Emma Knox, Jack, Drew and Will Garton, Viktorija, Nikita and Elijah Stump and Jude and Ruby Stump; her parents, Lee and Ann Boggs of Albion; a brother: Mike Boggs of Huntertown; and three sisters: Deb Gibson of Fort Wayne, Darcy Boggs of Fort Wayne and LeAnn Perry of Albion.
The funeral service were held Sunday at Merriam Christian Chapel, 3985 South U.S. 33. The burial was in Thorn Cemetery, Ormas.
Preferred memorials are to Gideons International or Wolf Lake Baptist Church.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City and South Whitley was in charge of arrangements.
