John Norman Casey
John Norman Casey, 72, Akron, passed away at 8:55 P.M. Tuesday Dec. 15, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born on June 11, 1943, in Pine Village, the son of John Irvin and Grace Fern (Broady) Casey. On Oct. 19, 1963, in Rochester, he married Carol Ann Hecht and she survives.
Mr. Casey had lived in Athens for many years. He worked as self-employed truck driver for many years and had owned and operated Consolidated Enterprises Construction Company. He had served with the Indiana National Guard. In his spare time he enjoyed playing pool, mushroom hunting, listening to country music, watching wrestling and NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife: Carol Ann Casey, Akron; children: Jeanette (Roger) Cook, Rochester; Scott Casey, Fleetwood, Pa.; Christina Casey, Akron; grandchild: Johnathan Miller, Rochester; four step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-step-grandchild; brother-in-law: Jerry Hutchens, Carmel; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter: Trinity Medly; brothers: Emmett Casey; Chester Casey; Donald Casey; sisters: Alberta Hutchens; Lidamay Rolf; and Margie Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Casey, Akron, Indiana, children, Jeanette and husband Roger Cook, Rochester, Indiana, Scott Casey, Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, Cristina Casey, Akron, Indiana, grandchild, Johnathan Miller, Rochester, Indiana, four step- grandchildren, eleven step- great grandchildren, one great -great step grandchild, brother-in-law, Jerry Hutchens, Carmel, Indiana, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Trinity Medly, brothers, Emmett Casey, Chester Casey, Donald Casey, sisters, Alberta Hutchens, Lidamay Rolf and Margie Newton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Athens Cemetery, Athens.
