Baker Youth Club Hosts Annual Christmas Party
WARSAW — The Baker Youth Club in Warsaw is trying to spread Christmas cheer with multiple programs and events going on throughout December.
BYC is an organization dedicated to helping children in need across Kosciusko County by providing meals, transportation, activities and even a Christmas party. Thankfully, everything they do is provided for by the people of Kosciusko County and United Way.
“We get 25-28 percent of our budget through United Way, and the rest comes as a result of donations,” said Executive Director Tracy Furnivall. “We are a 501c3 non-profit company, so all donations are tax-deductible, and we are so blessed to live in such a great and giving community.”
“Honestly, it wouldn’t be possible to do what we do without the support of the community we have,” he noted.
Donations to the BYC can help fund events like the BYC Christmas party, where over 225 children showed up. Every child at the party received a gift, got to see Santa and was provided a meal.
Donations also go toward paying the staff, and the necessary office supplies BYC offers to children working on homework.
“We try to set up a safe environment for children in need to do their homework after school, and the majority of them don’t have pens, pencils or paper for their own,” Sullivan said.
BYC understands some people can’t give monetarily, but there are opportunities to serve by providing meals, and taking care of children. “Monetary donations are always a plus though, because we know where money needs to go, and we can be diverse with it,” Sullivan noted.
No matter how one chooses to donate, every little bit helps, and time or money could go a long way in helping shape children’s lives through BYC.
