Closed for the Holidays
We will be closed Dec. 24-27 in observance of Christmas. We do have drop boxes at the south end of the building to drop items off if you need to return any materials. We will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28. We hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday.
Paying Fines
This year the library is trying to avoid rolling over fines from 2015 into 2016. If you are aware you accrued a fine in 2015 or before, please be sure to pay it before December 30. If you have a large fine due to lost material, feel free to give us a call at (574) 658-4312 and we will work out a payment plan for you. All fines collected are considered income and help keep the tax rate down. Fines are not meant to be carried indefinitely on a patron card. Come in and pay your fine today!
Christmas Laughs
What do lions sing at Christmas? Jungle bells.
How do snowmen get around? On their icicles.
Pedro: What has a jolly laugh, brings you presents and scratches up your furniture?
Ordep: Beats me. What?
Pedro: Santa Claws.
Darth Vader: I know what you’re getting for Christmas.
Luke: How do you know?
Darth Vader: I can feel your presents.
Coming Soon to a Galaxy Near You
The first Star Wars film since 2005 hit local cinemas on Friday, Dec. 18. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is expected to break box office records and may even challenge “Avatar” as the highest grossing movie of all time. If you plan to take the whole family to see the latest film, stop by the library and check out the previous episodes: “A New Hope” (1977); “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980); “Return of the Jedi” (1983); “Phantom Menace” (1999); “Attack of the Clones” (2002) and “Revenge of the Sith” (2005). All of the movies are available to check out in the adult DVD area. We also have several books and graphic novels featuring Star Wars characters, including a new series being added to the Teen Graphic Novel department. May the Force be with you.
