M. Louise Metzger, 97, Claypool, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at her residence.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1918, in Lake Township, Kosciusko County, to Ernest and Hazel (Ditton) Penrod, both deceased. She married Eldred M. Metzger on Jan. 14, 1939. He died on June 30, 2014. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the former Junction 13 and 14 service station in Sidney.

She is survived by her daughter: Carolyn Smith, Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Mark (Tammi) Smith, Huntertown; Brian (Patricia) Smith, Garrett; and Dawn (Kevin) Nofzinger, Garrett; nine great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Harold; Ernest Jr.; and Wilbur Penrod; and three sisters: Maxine Ruppel; Ruth Latham; and Betty Gilmore.

Louise was a member of the Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1936. She was a charter member of the former Jackson Township Home Ec Club. She taught Kindergarten Sunday School at Eel River Community Church of the Brethren for many years and enjoyed refinishing furniture.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, Dec. 28, at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester. The funeral will be at noon Monday, also at the funeral home, and will be officiated by a member of the pastor team at Eel River Community Church of the Brethren. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
